Mastery Arcade
Terms of Service

Our terms, in plain English.

Last updated September 2026

The short version

A grown-up opens the account and is responsible for it. Children play under that account; they never sign up on their own. If you subscribe, it renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in one place — the same way you signed up. Arcade Tokens are play credits inside the game, not money.

The sections below are the full agreement. We have tried to write them so a parent can actually read them.

Who can use Mastery Arcade

You must be 18 or older to create an account. By creating one you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of every child who will play under it, and that you agree to these terms on their behalf.

Children play through Player profiles inside your account. They do not have their own logins, cannot sign up on their own, and cannot purchase anything.

Your account and Players

You are responsible for your account — keeping your sign-in secure, and everything that happens under it. Tell us at support@masteryarcade.com if you think someone else has access.

Players are profiles, not accounts. How many you can create depends on your plan. Player profiles carry no password: anyone holding your device can switch between them. That is a deliberate choice for a family product, and it means you should treat the device itself as the boundary.

Player names are visible to us and on leaderboards. Pick something you are comfortable with other families seeing. We screen names automatically and may change or remove one that is offensive, impersonates someone, or contains personal information a child should not be publishing.

Credits

Arcade Tokens are a play credit inside Mastery Arcade. One Token lets a Player start one round.

Tokens are not money. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, cannot be transferred between accounts, and cannot be sold. They are a licence to play, not property you own.

We may change how many Tokens an action costs or grants, and we may give bonus Tokens as part of a promotion. If we discontinue Tokens entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and will not charge you for Tokens you can no longer use.

Tokens purchased or granted are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

Referral store credit

When a friend you invite joins the Arcade Pass and pays for their first month, you earn store credit — one month of your own Arcade Pass at your locked price — for every friend who joins, with no limit. This is separate from Arcade Tokens and separate from the signup-only Tokens bonus a referral link can also earn.

Store credit only — never cash. Referral credit has no cash value. It is never issued as a check, a bank transfer, or cash of any kind, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred to anyone else's account. It can only be applied against your own Arcade Pass.

This credit is applied automatically to your next Arcade Pass invoice — there is nothing for you to redeem or claim.

If you earn credit before you have an Arcade Pass of your own, it is held until you subscribe. Held credit expires 12 months after the friend who earned it for you joins the Pass, if you still have no subscription by then. Once applied to a bill, credit never expires.

If your friend's first payment is later refunded or disputed within 30 days, the credit it earned you is reversed. A reversal never takes back more credit than you have left unspent — using credit keeps it used.

We may change or end the referral program for future referrals at any time, with notice; a change never reverses credit you have already earned.

Referral credit is for real families referring real friends. Abuse — referring yourself, creating fabricated accounts, or otherwise gaming the offer — voids the credit involved and may result in your account being suspended.

Subscriptions, renewal, and cancelling

Mastery Arcade offers a free tier and paid subscriptions. Before you are charged anything, we show you the plan, the price, the billing interval, and the fact that it renews automatically — and you must actively agree to those terms. We keep a record of that agreement.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel. If you started on a free trial or a free tier that converts to paid, the same is true once the trial ends.

You can cancel at any time, from your Account page, in the same place and the same number of steps it took to subscribe. We will not make you call, email, or talk to anyone to cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your subscription keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for.

If we change the price of a plan you are already on, we will tell you clearly at least 7 and no more than 30 days before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.

We will remind you. At least once a year we will send you a reminder of what you are subscribed to, when it renews, what it costs, and how to cancel.

Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable, and cancelling part-way through a period does not produce a partial refund. That said, if something went wrong — a charge you did not expect, a renewal you thought you had cancelled — email us and we will sort it out. We would rather refund you than argue. Nothing here limits refund rights the law gives you.

If you subscribed through an app store (Apple or Google), that store handles the billing and the cancellation, and their terms and refund rules apply to that purchase. Cancel through the store, not here.

Text messages

If you give us a mobile number and consent, we send progress updates and practice reminders for your own account — up to 2 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help.

Consent to text messages is never a condition of purchase or of using Mastery Arcade, and you can withdraw it at any time. Mobile information collected for SMS is never shared or sold to third parties or lead generators. We only ever message the adult who owns the account. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Children's privacy

Mastery Arcade is built for children to use under a parent's account, and we designed it to collect as little about them as possible: a nickname, an optional avatar, and how they are doing at maths. There is no chat, no forums, and no way for a child to message anyone.

Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and what we never do. You can delete a Player, or your whole account and everything in it, at any time.

Using it fairly

Please do not:

Share your account with people outside your household; try to break, probe, or overload the service; scrape it or automate play; reverse-engineer it; resell access; or use it to harass anyone or to publish content that is unlawful or abusive.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is a genuine misunderstanding, we will talk to you first.

What belongs to whom

Ours: Mastery Arcade, Times Machine, the characters, artwork, music, writing, and software are ours (or our licensors'). We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your family's own learning, for as long as these terms are in effect. That licence does not let you copy, distribute, or build on them.

Yours: what you enter — Player names, avatars — stays yours. You give us permission to store and display it inside the product so the product can work.

Changes, downtime, and endings

We are actively building Mastery Arcade, so features will change, improve, and occasionally disappear. We will not remove something you are paying for without telling you.

We aim to keep the service up but cannot promise it is never interrupted. If we ever shut the service down, we will give reasonable notice and will not keep charging you.

You can close your account at any time — Delete account, at the bottom of your Account page. It takes effect immediately and cancels any paid Arcade Pass with it; we do not refund the remainder of a period you have already paid for. We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to.

The legal part

No guarantees about results. We believe the product works, and we built it on published learning science — but we cannot promise any particular child will improve by any particular amount. Mastery Arcade is provided “as is” and, to the extent the law allows, without warranties of any kind.

Limits on liability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they do not apply to you.

If something goes wrong, email us first at support@masteryarcade.com. Nearly everything is fixable that way, and we would rather fix it than litigate it. If it cannot be resolved, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located there. Either of us may still bring a claim in small claims court.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we will tell you — by email or in the app — before it takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Mastery Arcade after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not, you can cancel.
